El Pastor y Sus Ovejas!

Juan 10:27 - Mis ovejas oyen mi voz, y yo las conozco, y me siguen, 28 y yo les doy vida eterna; y no perecerán jamás, ni nadie las arrebatará de mi mano

Es interesante notar como las Ovejas en los tiempos bíblicos eran de gran importancia tanto para la cultura como para la economía. Con tan solo un vistazo a la Biblia, podemos ver las frecuentes menciones de este animal tanto en las páginas del Antiguo Testamento como en el Nuevo. Desde los principios ya vemos Pastores que laboraban al cuidar de ellas, vemos algunos que las sacrificaban o vendían, como también vemos muchos los cuales su ganado era lo que los ayudaba a sostenerse económicamente. Es muy bueno poder observar todos los beneficios terrenales/seculares que brindaban, sin embargo, no podemos pasar por alto el significado y simbolismo espiritual el cual las ovejas pueden representar. Pues no tan solo eran de gran importancia terrenal para muchos, sino que nuestro Padre Celestial, también ve enseñanzas espirituales las cuales podemos aplicar a nuestras vidas. Jesus, conociendo el contexto y la cultura, siendo el mejor predicador de todos los tiempos (aun sin tener plataformas digitales), no dudó en tomar un concepto terrenal, y aplicarlo de manera espiritual. Quizás todos pensarían que Jesus compararía al cristiano con un animal tal como el oso, el león, o grandes peces, sin embargo, Jesus escogió hacerlo con la Oveja. Jesus no está interesado en que la Iglesia tenga el semblante de un León, ni la ferocidad de las garras de un Oso, sino un corazón como el de la Oveja, lleno de humildad, y dispuesto a someterse. Dios no busca osos ni leones, El busca Ovejas sometidas!

Dentro de los tesoros que podemos hallar al escudriñar las Ovejas en los tiempos bíblicos, hay dos privilegios que éstas obtienen los cuales son dignos de reflexionar. Una de las impactantes maneras en las cuales los Pastores lograban darse a conocer a sus Ovejas no era solo al acariciarlas, alimentarlas, o cuidarlas, sino que les hablaban de tal manera que las Ovejas lograban escuchar, conocer e identificar la voz de Su Pastor. Notemos la acción de ambos lados, el Pastor tendría que saber cómo hablarles para que su voz fuera dulce como la miel, pero también la voz de un Padre que corrige y enseña cuando es necesario. Dios es igual, sabe cómo hablarnos, sabe llegar al corazón de la Oveja, de tal manera que Su Palabra es como una Espada aguda de dos filos, así como consuela, levanta y restaura, también amonesta, corrige, y exhorta conforme a la necesidad. Pero así como el Pastor sabía cómo hablar y lo hacía con tanto amor y pasión, la Oveja tiene que estar dispuesta a escuchar y discernir aquella voz la cual le está hablando. Las Ovejas viven en rediles, en lugares espaciosos donde muchas personas y lobos pueden pasearse. Es posible que la Oveja escuche muchas voces diariamente y es su trabajo no solo enamorarse de la voz del Pastor, sino también discernir la voz de la Serpiente. Como Iglesia, la cual Dios nos llama Ovejas, tenemos que saber las voces que escuchamos, tenemos que desarrollar el don de escuchar, pero también discernir. El Evangelio no consiste en no escuchar las otras voces, sino que aun ante tantas voces, sabemos cual es la de nuestro Pastor, y tenemos la habilidad de escucharla, pero también vivir en ella y serle obediente. Necesitamos una Generación que sepa Escuchar cuando Dios habla, pero también Discernir cuando Dios no está hablando!. Uno de los mayores privilegios, siempre será ser Oveja, pero también escuchar al Pastor. 

Es imposible reflexionar en la Voz del Pastor, y no notar el efecto que esta Voz provoca. El Pastor le habla a sus Ovejas pero no es solamente para que escuchen y ejerciten sus oídos, es también para que sus corazones cambien y puedan aprender a escucharle, pero también caminen en pos de Él. Así como el Pastor invierte tiempo hablando, él desea ver cómo llega el día donde las Ovejas aun sin escuchar Su Voz, ya saben donde tienen que estar, y también saben donde El Pastor se encuentra. Pues le conocen tanto, que Su Voz ya ha desarrollado una relación entre ambos. Lo han escuchado hablar, pero también han visto el camino el cual esta Voz les ha mostrado, cada semilla que ha sembrado, y así llega el día donde la Oveja se enfoca en escucharlo, pero también seguirle. Esto nos lleva a concluir con lo siguiente: El Privilegio de la Oveja no consiste en solo Escuchar la Voz del Pastor, sino en poder Seguir sus Huellas. Es hermoso que podamos escuchar Su Voz, pero es un gran privilegio poder seguirle.

Como Iglesia, tal como la Oveja, somos sumamente bendecidos, podemos escuchar Su Voz, ser redargüidos y amados por ella. Pero no podemos olvidar, que Dios se manifiesta, Dios habla, pero Dios también nos ha mostrado Un Camino, no basado en un Lugar, sino en un Buen Pastor, llamado Jesucristo. Un gran mal de nuestra generacion, es que ama la Voz del Pastor, pero no las Huellas del Maestro. Tenemos que apreciar y postrarnos ante Su Voz, pero no podemos dejar de escudriñar cada una de sus Huellas, las cuales nos llevan a lugares escondidos del Redil, los cuales desarrollan áreas profundas en nuestro ser, las cuales solo el Buen Pastor conoce. No podemos escuchar Su Voz y quedarnos tiesos, paralizados, la Voz de Dios produce movimiento. Un Redil no solo mora con Su Pastor, sino que está dispuesto a seguirle a todo lugar donde el Pastor los lleve. 

Como Iglesia del Senor, como sus Ovejas, tenemos que diariamente procurar escuchar Su Voz, saber discernir cuando Él habla, pero también cuando la Serpiente intenta hablar. Tengamos cuidado con las diferentes voces que escuchamos, pero sobre todo aquella a la cual seguimos. Pues dependiendo la Voz que escuchemos, será la dirección en la cual nuestros pies se moverán! 

!La Voz del Buen Pastor entra por nuestros Oídos, reposa en nuestro Corazón, pero también se esparce hacia nuestros Pies!

John 10:27 - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, 28 and I give them eternal life; and they will never perish, nor will anyone pluck them out of my hand

     It is interesting to note how Sheep in biblical times were of great importance for both the culture and economy. With just a glance at the Bible, we can see the frequent mentions of this animal in both the pages of the Old Testament and the New. From the beginning, we already see Shepherds who worked to take care of them, we see some who sacrificed or sold them, as we also see many whose sheep was what helped them sustain themselves economically. It is very good to be able to observe all the earthly/secular benefits they provided, however, we cannot overlook the spiritual meaning and symbolism which sheep can represent. Not only were they of great earthly importance for many, but our Heavenly Father also sees spiritual teachings which we can apply to our lives. Jesus, knowing the context and the culture, being the best preacher of all time (even without having digital platforms), did not hesitate to take an earthly concept and apply it spiritually. Perhaps everyone would think that Jesus would compare the Christian to an animal such as a bear, lion, or large fish, however, Jesus chose to do so with the Sheep. Jesus is not interested in the Church having the countenance of a Lion, nor the ferocity of the claws of a Bear, but rather a heart like the one of the Sheep, full of humility, and willing to submit. God is not looking for bears or lions, He is looking for subdued sheep!

     Among the treasures that we can find when scrutinizing the Sheep in biblical times, there are two privileges that they obtain which are worthy of reflection. One of the ways in which the Shepherds managed to make themselves known to their Sheep was not only by petting them, feeding them, or caring for them, but they spoke to them in such a way that the Sheep were able to hear, know and identify the voice of  Their Shepherd. Let's notice the action on both sides, the Pastor would have to know how to speak to them so that his voice was sweet as honey, but also the voice of a Father who corrects and teaches when necessary. God is the same, he knows how to speak to us, he knows how to reach the heart of the Sheep, in such a way that His Word is like a sharp two-edged Sword, just as it consoles, raises and restores, it also admonishes, corrects, and exhorts according to the need. But just as the Shepherd knew how to speak and did so with so much love and passion, the Sheep has to be willing to listen and discern that voice which is speaking to him. Sheep live in pens, in spacious places where many people and wolves can roam. The Sheep may hear many voices daily and it is their job to not only fall in love with the voice of the Shepherd, but also to discern the voice of the Serpent. As a Church, which God calls us Sheep, we have to know the voices we hear, we have to develop the gift of listening, but also discerning. The Gospel does not consist of not listening to other voices, but even in the face of so many voices, we know which one is our Shepherd's, and we have the ability to listen to it, but also live in it and be obedient to it. We need a Generation that knows how to Listen when God speaks, but also Discern when God is not speaking! One of the greatest privileges will always be to be a Sheep, but also to listen to the Shepherd.

     It is impossible to reflect on the Voice of the Shepherd, and not notice the effect that this Voice causes. The Shepherd speaks to his Sheep but it is not only so that they listen and exercise their ears, it is also so that their hearts change and they can learn to listen to Him, but also walk after Him. Just as the Shepherd spends time talking, he wants see how the day comes where the Sheep, even without hearing His Voice, already know where they have to be, and they also know where The Shepherd is. They know him so much that His Voice has already developed a relationship between them. They have heard Him speak, but they have also seen the path that this Voice has shown them, every seed that has been sown, and thus comes the day where the Sheep focuses on listening to Him, but also following Him. This leads us to conclude with the following: The Privilege of the Sheep does not consist of only Listening to the Voice of the Shepherd, but of being able to Follow His Footprints. It is beautiful that we can hear His Voice, but it is a great privilege to be able to follow Him.

As a Church, just like the Sheep, we are extremely blessed, we can hear His Voice, be rebuked and loved by it. But we cannot forget that God manifests himself, God speaks, but God has also shown us A Way, not based on a Place, but on a Good Shepherd, called Jesus Christ. A great flaw of our generation is that it loves the Voice of the Shepherd, but not the Footprints of the Master. We have to appreciate and prostrate ourselves before His Voice, but we cannot stop scrutinizing each of His Footprints, which take us to hidden places of the Fold, which develop deep areas in our being, which only the Good Shepherd knows. We cannot listen to His Voice and remain stiff, paralyzed, the Voice of God produces movement. A Fold not only dwells with Its Shepherd, but is willing to follow wherever the Shepherd leads them.

As the Lord's Church, like His Sheep, we have to daily try to listen to His Voice, knowing how to discern when He speaks, but also when the Serpent tries to speak. Let's be careful with the different voices we listen to, but especially the one we follow. Depending on the Voice we hear, it will be the direction in which our feet will move!

The Voice of the Good Shepherd enters our Ears, rests in our Heart, but also spreads to our Feet!
